Unguardable Does the Unimaginable; Magic Gaming’s Point Guard Named MVP of Both NBA 2K League All-Star Events

In a room full of All-Stars, it’s hard to outshine the competition.

But that’s exactly what Magic Gaming point guard Joshua “unguardable” Hunter did on the 2023 NBA 2K League All-Star stage.

Orlando’s floor general led Team Unguardable to back-to-back, best-of-three series sweeps of Team ANT and Team Bagmotion to secure the 2023 NBA 2K League 3v3 All-Star tournament title. As a result of his sensational showing, unguardable was named the tournament’s MVP.

While that would have made for an amazing night in its own right, unguardable wasn’t even close to being finished.

The New York native continued to show out and stole the show of the 2KL’s 5v5 All-Star Game as well. Unguardable erupted for 32 points, five assists and three steals to propel the Eastern Conference to a 69-53 victory over the Western Conference. Once again, he was named the game’s MVP.

“I came into the night with the goal of winning at least one of the MVP awards, and I ended up with two,” he explained. “I’m definitely blessed for that one. I did it front of my family, so that was even better.”

As the captain of his 3v3 squad, which also included former Magic big man Daniel “DT” Tlais and Bucks Gaming’s Mason “JohhnyRed” Bracken, unguardable led his team in scoring in both series.

After tallying 12 points and three assists per contest in a series sweep over Team ANT, Magic Gaming’s point guard exploded for 14 points and 2.5 assists per contest in back-to-back victories over Team Bagmotion in the championship round. In addition to his strong statline, unguardable hit the game-sealing shots in both championship round triumphs.

“I feel like I’m the best player in the world,” he said after the event. “While we haven’t had the success to go along with it yet, I believe eventually we’ll get to prove it. Being with all the stars of the league and then showing that I was the best here, it felt great.”

Heading into the event, unguardable expressed how meaningful it was to him to be the first All-Star in team history and to represent that Magic organization on the league’s biggest stage. After the event, he was elated that he was able to represent the franchise in such a phenomenal fashion.

“I literally never take my Magic Gaming wristband off, so the Magic are always with me wherever I go,” unguardable said. “I had my Magic sweats on. I made sure I represented the Magic. That was a big goal of mine. Being Magic Gaming’s first All-Star, it was big to represent the brand.”

All of the recent news around Magic Gaming has the organization and pundits alike excited about the team’s prospects for the upcoming 2024 2KL season.

Orlando recently acquired big man Ashton “LowkeyGodlike” Agredano from DUX Infinitos and shooting guard Alexander “BSmoove” Reese from HEAT Check Gaming in a pair of separate trades.

While both players are expected to make hefty contributions in 5v5, LowkeyGodlike’s addition certainly makes Magic Gaming a huge threat in 3v3. The Rookie of the Year finalist helped DUX earn a 3v3 championship last season. Now paired with the 3v3 All-Star Game MVP, the duo is certainly capable of doing big things regardless of who earns the third spot alongside them.

“It’s great to bring more talent to the team,” unguardable said. “It’s amazing. Godlike is literally a 3v3 legend. Bsmoove has been consistent in 5v5 throughout his career. It’s just amazing to have more talent around me. It can only lead to success.”
