Magic Gaming Surges Past Pistons GT Behind Reizey’s Career Night

Magic Gaming returned to regular season action on Wednesday night in emphatic fashion.

Brendan “Reizey” Hill exploded for a career-high 27 points as Magic Gaming rolled past Pistons GT for a 63-55 victory.

Reizey set the tone from the jump, knocking down his first nine shots from the floor and his first seven attempts from long distance.

“Right away, we said ‘attack, attack, attack,’ and he was able to get good shots up,” Magic Gaming Head Coach Jonah Edwards said. “You saw from the start he was getting a ton of space and able to capitalize on everything right away. Really, really good job by him to start off and he was able to carry it all the way.”

Reizey singlehandedly outscored Pistons GT in the first half with 20 points as Magic Gaming took a 38-19 lead into halftime. He finished the night going 10-for-13 from the floor and 7-for-9 from 3-point range.

“It felt good, that’s the first game where I’ve come out and really saw the shots go down.” Reizey explained. “I came out with a lot of confidence today. I knew that we had a good matchup going into the game and so I came out aggressive – that’s what my teammates told me to do – and the shots were falling.”

Daniel “DT” Tlais posted 14 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Cameron “KingCamRoyalty” Ford delivered another double-double outing, notching 12 points and 13 rebounds.

“I thought KingCam played great today,” Edwards said. “He had really great positioning on the court at all times, we’ve been working with him closely (on that) the last few weeks. He showed up today and showed why he should be in the lineup for us. He’s made it clear that he’s someone who just produces and shows up whenever he’s asked to do so.”

Orlando (3-3) handed Detroit (1-5) its fourth straight regular season loss.

The contest marked the first regular season appearance as a member of Pistons GT for Devin “DevGoss” Gossett, who scored a team-high 17 points.

The Orlando native was recently acquired from Hawks Talon GC in exchange for point guard Andrew “MrStylez” Valle. Both players were first-round selections in the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft with MrStylez being selected fourth and DevGoss going 13th overall. DevGoss, who participated in the inaugural NBA 2K League season as a coach for Magic Gaming, is the first former NBA 2K League coach to be drafted as a player.

“Dev is going to bring a lot of offense for them, no question,” Edwards said. “He gets the ball in the air and he’s a pretty elite scorer.”

Fans in Orlando should be extra satisfied with this Magic Gaming win, which not only brought the team to .500 on the regular season, but also delivered half-priced pizza. Magic Gaming announced a new partnership with Papa John’s earlier in the day, and for the remainder of the season, Central Florida fans will get 50 percent off their online orders at PapaJohns.com the day after Magic Gaming victories when they use the promo code ‘MGWIN.’

“We’re pretty excited about it,” Reizey said. “We’re happy to be able to give back to our community and give fans 50 percent off pizza.”

Fans can take advantage of that offer on Thursday and watch as Magic Gaming faces off against the red-hot Warriors Gaming Squad (3-2), who claimed THE TURN tournament title, at 8 p.m. ET.
