Magic Gaming Falls Short to Cavs Legion GC

Despite a season-best effort from Emmanuel “UCMANNY” Cruz, who erupted for 28 points and dished out 12 assists as his team’s point guard, Magic Gaming was eliminated from playoff contention in its first of two games on the final day of the regular season.

Similar to what transpired earlier this year when Brandon “Hood” Caicedo exploded for 48 points against the Magic during The Ticket, one of two mid-season tournaments, the NBA 2K League’s second leading scorer delivered another crushing performance, racking up 37 points and 15 assists in Cavs Legion GC’s 88-77 victory.

Magic Gaming made some lineup adjustments for this contest, re-inserting Jorge “marley213s” Renteria at center and making UCMANNY, who shot 11-of-25 from the field and 6-of-16 from 3-point range, the team’s primary ball handler.

Both marley213s and Cameron “KingCamRoyalty” Ford recorded double-doubles, combining for 31 points and 21 rebounds. Bilal “SUPREME PULLER” Almashni had a solid game, too, finishing with 13 points.

As they have typically done throughout the season when trailing, the Magic rallied from a double-digit deficit and pulled within one late in the third quarter. But, every time the Magic went on a mini-run, the Cavs had an answer and were able to reclaim momentum.

The Cavs’ supporting cast, and how efficient they were, made the comeback attempt even harder. Gerald “Sick X 973” Knapp and Christopher “Savage” Tracey each scored 18 points and combined to shoot 15-of-19 from the floor.

Magic Gaming will wrap up its season later today when it takes on Celtics Crossover Gaming. A win for the Magic would knock the Celtics out of the running for a playoff spot.
