Magic Gaming Advances to Semifinals of NBA 2K League’s “Three for All Showdown” PS4 Bracket
April 2, 2020
ORLANDO – Magic Gaming is not just advancing through the NBA 2K League’s Three for All Showdown PS4 bracket, they’re rolling through it.
Four series. Four sweeps.
Their PS4 squad consisting of Daniel “djbama” Burge, Brandon “ToXsiK” Raudenbush and Robert “May” May have each played their roles to perfection and made their share of big plays along the way. As a result, they’ve punched their ticket to the tournament semifinals.
After stellar showings in Rounds 1A and 1B on Tuesday, djbama came up clutch once again in Round 2 on Thursday.
The Magic Gaming rookie connected on back-to-back game-winning 3-pointers in back-to-back nail-biting contests to help Orlando sweep Mavs Gaming and advance to Round 3.
His first game-winning triple came from the right wing to give Orlando a 21-19 victory in Game 1. He then followed it up with a miraculous 3-pointer from midcourt to seal the series with a 23-20 win.
“That might have been the game of the tournament,” an enthusiastic ToXsiK declared on the team’s official live stream.
After an electric four-game opening night, where he averaged 13.5 points per game, while going a scorching 20-for-25 from the floor and 14-for-17 from 3-point range, djbama posted 11 points in each contest against Dallas.
“He finds ways to manipulate the defense and get to his spots,” Magic Gaming Head Coach Jonah Edwards said. “When he has them, he knocks down his shots.”
Equally impressive was ToXsiK’s lockdown defense on Artreyo “Dimez” Boyd. ToXsiK held Dallas’ guard to just eight total points over the two contests, including a 1-for-8 showing from the field in the final game.
“He’s not only done a great job of being an elite defender, but he’s also done a great job calling out things for (his teammates),” Edwards explained. “He’s also done a great job of being a knockdown shooter from the corner. I don’t think he’s missed a shot yet from the corner in the tournament.”
May operated relentless pick-and-roll sets with djbama with precision, and scored 20 points, while going a perfect 10-for-10 from the floor as the primary screener and roller in Orlando’s offense.
In Round 3, Magic Gaming brought out the brooms once again. This time at the expense of Bucks Gaming.
Djbama scored a game-high 12 points, while ToXsiK added eight as Orlando smashed Milwaukee 22-4 in Game 1. Magic Gaming smothered Bucks Gaming defensively, holding them to a 2-for-10 outing from the field.
A balanced offensive effort gave Orlando the edge in Game 2 as May (eight), ToXsiK (seven) and djbama (seven) each put up their share of points.
But with the series on the line, Magic Gaming broke away from their traditional pick-and-roll offensive sets and djbama found a cutting ToXsiK for an easy layup and a 22-20 win.
“These three have expertise in this build and they’ve done an incredible job,” Edwards said. “I’m proud of them for the way they’ve played.”
Magic Gaming now advances to the Final Four of the Three for All Showdown, an online 3-on-3 tournament featuring fan-organized teams, top female 2K players and social media influencers, all competing in the NBA 2K20 MyPark game mode for the chance to play against NBA 2K League teams and a share of a $25,000 prize pool.
The showdown will complete on Friday and all series – aside from the final rounds of each bracket – will be a best-of-three game series with the final-round matchup being a best-of-five game series. Fans can watch all games on the NBA 2K League Twitch and YouTube channels.
The time of the game and opponent are still TBD.
Orlando opened the tournament on Tuesday with a Round 1A sweep of MooreLifeandtheClaws, a team consisting of NBA G League players Yante Maten, Bryce Brown and JJ Moore, followed by a Round 1B sweep of a Grizz Gaming squad that featured Dayvon “Goofy757” Curry, Joel “JoelLazu” Lazu and Justin “JROD” Rodriguez.
Along with the team’s PS4 back squad, Magic Gaming’s Brendan “Reizey” Hill, Daniel “DT” Tlais and Alex “ProFusion” Snowden represented Orlando in the XBOX bracket, but were eliminated by “The OG’s” in the first round on Wednesday.
