Magic Gaming’s Xbox Team Eliminated in Three For All Showdown

ORLANDO – Unlike their Magic Gaming teammates on the PS4 side, who advanced to the Round of 16 where they will play Mavs Gaming on Thursday night, Orlando’s Xbox trio got swept in their best-of-three opening round series of the NBA 2K League’s Three For All Showdown.

Reigning NBA 2K League Rookie of the Year Brendan “Reizey” Hill had an impressive Game 1, scoring all of the Magic’s 16 points against The OG’s, a team comprised of influencers Corey “I Quil I” Hovsepian, Arshia “vKraxy” Karimi and Veron “OG Hesi” Coates. In that contest, won by The OG’s 22-16, Reizey drilled a pair of 3-pointers, slammed home two dunks and connected on three driving layups.

In Game 2, a 21-11 triumph for the influencers, Reizey and Daniel “DT” Tlais, another one of the Magic’s returnees from last season, each scored four points and Orlando’s 2020 second round draft selection Alex “ProFusion” Snowden had three points.

The loss prevented ProFusion, who played for Celtics Crossover Gaming the last two seasons, from going up against his former team in the next round. The Celtics eliminated both the Pacers and Bucks in their first two series.

The Magic’s PlayStation squad, featuring Brandon “ToXsiK” Raudenbush, Robert “May” May and Daniel “djbama” Burge, breezed past their two opponents on Tuesday night. They first swept a team consisting of NBA G League players Yante Maten, Bryce Brown and JJ Moore and then did the same against Grizz Gaming, ToXsiK’s former team.

So far one of the best players in the tournament on either side, PS4 or Xbox, has been djbama, the Magic’s fourth round pick in February’s draft. The Birmingham, Alabama native erupted for 30 points combined in the series against the G Leaguers, knocking down all 11 of his shot attempts. He was also spectacular in the closeout win over the Grizzlies, scoring 16 points in that contest.

“DJ plays (the NBA 2K20 MyPark game mode) a lot – he grinds his player and he’s a high rep – so we felt they wouldn’t be able to stop him,” an impressed ToXsiK said. “As long as we got some stops, we knew we would score.”

The first-ever Three for All Showdown is an online 3-on-3 tournament featuring fan-organized teams, top female 2K players and social media influencers all competing in the NBA 2K20 MyPark game mode for the chance to play against NBA 2K League teams and a share of a $25,000 prize pool.

The remainder of the showdown will continue through Friday, April 3, and all series – aside from the final rounds of each bracket – will be best-of-three game series with the final-round matchup being a best-of-five game series. Fans can watch all games on the NBA 2K League Twitch and YouTube channels.
